ILO - What is it?

Independent Living Options (ILO) is a support that is funded through NDIS for participants to live independently or with a specific arrangement in place that supports their independence.

ILO is a remarkable program designed to support individuals with disabilities in achieving greater autonomy and control over their lives. The primary aim is to provide the necessary resources, services and supports to enable independent living and enhance overall well-being. It's all about empowering you to thrive, dream big, and live life to the fullest!

How do you access ILO?

  1. Initial Assessment - reach out to your NDIS planner or your LAC to discuss if an ILO is a model that will work with you and your goals. Usually, a Home & Living Supporting Evidence form will need to be completed by you or someone acting on your behalf and sent to the NDIA to review your request.

  2. Create a plan - this is where Exploration and Design Report is completed, it is a personalised plan outlining the specific supports and services you require to achieve independence. This is usually completed by the ILo provider who is going to provide the support to you so you can live independently.

  3. Implement & Support - Once your plan is approved, you can start using the ILO, this means you will be provided support as discussed when you completed the exploration and design report with the provider of your choice. This is a collaborative arrangement to ensure you receive the supports you require how you require them.

  4. Ongoing Review - The ILO is a dynamic program that can adapt to your evolving needs, and regular reviews are conducted to evaluate your progress, make necessary adjustments, and ensure you receive the best possible support.

Now that you are familiar with the NDIS Independent Living Options (ILO), I encourage you to explore the opportunities it presents so you can embrace your independence, break barriers and unlock your potential.
