Why I started Best Life Support Services WA

In October 2022 I went on a solo road trip down Great Ocean Road in Victoria, while

I was away, I had time to reflect and ponder where I was in my life. It was on this

road trip I decided I had to get out of the environment I was in as I was burnt out and

could no longer work at this pace for someone else. I had been in the sector for 10

years and I was managing a team of people who were also burnt out because the

KPI’s and the expectations were unachievable because our caseloads only ever let

us respond to fires rather than prepare in advance to decrease the damage they

create.

I took 6 months off to do some self-care and consider what my next steps were. My

wife who is an exceptional business and lifestyle coach said to me we need to do a

planning session so you can have a focus and plan for the year, apparently staying

unemployed was not an option.

Lots of ideas were thrown around but none created the fire I was looking for to drive

me forward or work towards my purpose. From the planning session we came up

with starting an NDIS provider business which will focus on Independent Living

Options (ILO) and ensuring the service we provide is truly person centered. We came up

with the business name and a list of tasks that I needed to complete to get this

business started.

In May 2023 Best Life Support Services WA came to life and I have not looked back.

I had my first clients in June and since then there has been a steady increase in

clients and the business has been looking at other ways to meet the needs of People

with Disabilities (PWD).

We have started having quarterly Talent Show events which offer anyone in the

community an opportunity to showcase their talent in an environment that is

welcoming and inclusive and without judgement.

We also have our Best Life Program starting soon which will be an opportunity for

PWD to join a community of people who have similar interests and want to increase

their skills in various areas of daily living.

I’m excited for the future of Best Life Support Services WA as we create new opportunities for our community, and make a meaningful difference.
